Serial Engine

Serials aren't novels chopped into bits. They're a different game: hook fast, end every episode on a cliff, recap without boring anyone, and never miss a release day. Serial Engine plays that game properly.

Readers don't subscribe to chapters. They subscribe to cliffhangers.

Serial Engine is a Claude Cowork plugin that writes serials the way serials actually work.

It checks what's selling on the serial platforms right now, hands you 3 arc premises, and you pick the one you'd read. Then it outlines the whole arc and drafts it one episode at a time, with a quality gate after each. No 40-chapter blob. No "I'll fix the pacing later."

When the arc's done, it edits the lot, formats it for your platform, and writes your marketing copy and release schedule while it's at it.

And when arc 1 ends, it builds a series bible from what you just wrote, so arc 2 opens with the story's memory intact. You don't reread 60,000 words to remember what you named the pub.

Sound familiar?

  • You write a killer first episode, then lose the plot, literally, by episode 5.
  • Your episodes read like a novel that got chopped up, and readers can tell.
  • You miss 2 release days and watch subscribers you sweated for quietly leave.
  • Starting the next arc means rereading your own book like it's homework.

How Serial Engine works

1
Research and concept
It reads the serial platforms and tells you what's selling: tropes, episode lengths, pricing. Then you get 3 arc premises in your lane. Pick the one you'd binge.
2
Outline the arc
Episode-by-episode beat sheets, character and setting bibles, and a throughline map. Plant something in episode 2 and it pays off in episode 11. On purpose, not by luck.
3
Draft, one episode at a time
Every episode gets a hook, a mini-arc and a cliffhanger, in your voice. A quality gate checks each one before the next starts. Batch mode queues a few while you go live your life.
4
Edit and publish
Light, standard or deep edits, then a cross-arc pass. Then it formats for your platform and hands you marketing copy plus a release schedule you can actually keep.

What you get

  • The Serial Engine plugin for Claude Cowork, with all 10 commands.
  • A 6-step pipeline: research, concept, outline, draft, edit, publish.
  • Story arcs with episode beat sheets, character bibles and a throughline map.
  • Cliffhanger endings and recap beats built into every episode, because that is what brings readers back.
  • Platform packaging for Ream, Patreon, Substack, Royal Road, Wattpad and KU serial releases.
  • A release schedule and the marketing copy to go with it.
  • Arc mode that carries characters, world and throughlines into the next arc and beyond.

Questions, answered

How is this different from a novel plugin?
It thinks in episodes, not chapters. Every episode is built to end on a hook and open with a recap beat, and the story arc is tracked across all of them so a throughline you plant in episode 2 pays off in episode 11.
Which platforms does it publish to?
Ream, Patreon, Substack, Royal Road, Wattpad, and KU serial releases. Drafting stays platform-agnostic, so you choose your destination at the publish step and it formats everything for that one.
Do I have to write the whole arc in one sitting?
No. It drafts one episode at a time and every step is resume-safe. There is also a batch mode if you want to queue several episodes and walk away.
What happens when the first arc ends?
Run the arc command and it builds a series bible from the arc you just finished, so characters, world details and unresolved threads carry into the next arc without you rereading anything.
Do I need anything else to run it?
A Claude Pro plan or higher, and the free Claude in Chrome extension if you want the live platform research. Everything else runs without it.
