Weird Little KDP Niche Earning Thousands

Today, I bring you a KDP niche that’s burning up the Amazon charts.

It’s in the health/workout/fitness & dieting categories.

I’ve covered other exercise niches in the past, such as Chair Workouts for Seniors, but this one is new to me. In fact, I had to Google what it even meant. 🤷‍♀️

But one thing I knew was that whatever this exercise involved, it was proving to be a very profitable niche with a growing demand!

It’s called  Somatic Exercises.

These exercises are designed to improve nervous system regulation (and most of the sub-titles of the top-selling self-published books include that keyword phrase).

Let’s take a deep dive into this profitable niche:

First up, here are some of the top-earners on Amazon—all self published:

This one, earning an average of $3,660 (600-780 copies sold a day), as well as this one, earning an average of $1,231 monthly.

Here’s one earning an average of $981 a month, and this one that’s earning $2,831 a month.

Then there’s this one, earning an average of $1,447 a month.

Let’s keep going because there are plenty of other self-published titles ringing in daily sales in this niche.

Here’s one earning an average of $863 a month (around 120 daily sales), and yet another here, earning an average of $3,335 a month.

And here’s one (not self published) that’s on fire, with an average of $12,495 in monthly royalties!

Here’s some more information about this market:

Average Page Length: 120 Pages

Average Size: 6×9

Okay, so now that we have a snapshot of the niche, it’s time to determine what keywords we should use when creating our listing.

According to my research (combining scores from Publisher Rocket & BookBeam), here are some of the best keywords based on traffic volume and competition:

  • Somatic Exercises for Trauma
  • Somatic Exercises for Beginners
  • Somatic Yoga
  • Somatic Exercises for Nervous System Regulation (use this as a sub-title)
  • Somatic Exercises for Seniors
  • Vagus Nerve Exercises

Finally, the best category seems to be: Books > Health, Fitness & Dieting > Diets & Weight Loss > Weight Loss

Wishing you lots of sales!

I just learned about Somatics after I hurt my hip from carrying a 75 lbs. package from my neighbor’s house to mine. It was one of those new walking pads but I was balancing the weight wrong. Oh well, I made a couple of trips to the Chiro, but I wanted something more mind/body/nervous system connection with my Yoga to heal and found a course on Udemy. The belief is to heal- your brain has to activate areas again to get to the injured area (mine was a tight hip). Your body needs to work in unison. I can definitely get behind this!

Thanks for sharing this one Kate!

I’ve never heard of it either – but it sounds intriguing! Thanks for the tip!

You’re very welcome! I found another “weird” niche that’s vastly underserviced, but growing in demand. I’ll post about it soon!

I have never heard of this either, definitely something to look into. When you publish a book like this do you have a generic author name or would you create a new pen name?
    Thanks

I published mine under a new pen name. I don’t do a lot of “work” on Author Central these days, so managing multiple pen names isn’t as big of a chore as it used to be. I’d rather create themed pen names, where all the books are connected and I can establish myself as a go-to in that niche, then publish a wide variety of different books under the same pen name.

That being said, I don’t create websites, register domains or build lists for every pen name. I limit that to a handful (for my top niches) because these days I don’t have the time or interest in spreading myself too thin.
