Keep the town
A familiar setting and recurring cast readers can settle back into.
Write a mystery. Build a town. Bring readers back.
YOUR SLEUTH. YOUR SMALL TOWN. YOUR NEXT SERIES.
The charming town. The nosy neighbors. The amateur sleuth who really should leave this to the police. I’ll show you how to build it all with AI, from your first idea to a finished Book 1 and a plan for the series. You get the prompts, the tools and a clear next step whenever you need one.

COZY MYSTERY FICTION STACK
Build the sleuth, the town and the fair-play puzzle, with Auntie Alibi beside you in the course.
HI, I’M KATE RILEY
A good cozy gives you 2 things at once. A mystery you want to solve and a place you don’t particularly want to leave.
You care who did it. But you also want another afternoon in the bakery, another conversation with the grumpy neighbor and another excuse to visit the sleuth’s slightly chaotic life.
I’ve been publishing fiction since 2011, across multiple pen names, with books on the New York Times and USA Today bestseller lists. I know how much thinking goes into a story readers enjoy without ever seeing the work behind it.
This course puts that work into steps you can follow with Claude or ChatGPT. You make the creative decisions. Your AI helps with the research, planning, drafting and checks. I show you what to look for before you keep the result.
You don’t need a ready-made town, a brilliant murder idea or years of writing experience. We build those foundations together.
THE COZY PROMISE
Cozy readers have expectations. Your sleuth is an amateur with a believable reason to investigate. The mystery plays fair. The tone stays warm, even when someone in town has been up to no good.
You’ll learn those expectations before you choose your concept. Then they become part of your writing rules, so you and your AI have something specific to check the story against.
That makes the creative decisions easier. You’re choosing the kind of cozy you want to write while keeping the reader promise clear.
Put the important clues on the page, with red herrings that make sense.
Build a community, recurring cast and everyday life around the mystery.
Keep the murder off the page, the language clean and the romance sweet.
Bring the mystery to justice and leave readers with a sense of community.
THINK BEYOND YOUR FIRST BOOK
There’s a lovely opportunity in a series: readers get to know your people. When the next book arrives, they already have a reason to care.
You don’t have to invent a new town and a completely new cast every time. You keep the parts readers came to love, then bring in a fresh mystery, a different town event and new developments in the relationships.
That’s why we plan your series before drafting Book 1. Your recurring cast, longer story threads and series bible give the next book somewhere to begin.
A series gives your books more chances to find a reader and gives that reader more of a world they enjoy. The course helps you build the books behind that opportunity, without promising a particular income.
A familiar setting and recurring cast readers can settle back into.
Fresh murders, suspects, clues and town events keep each book distinct.
Let the relationships and longer threads grow from book to book.
YOU DON’T NEED IT ALL FIGURED OUT
Research the market with your AI, choose your setting and tropes, then compare concepts before you commit.
Work out the culprit, motive and evidence before drafting. Then place the clues and red herrings where readers can find them.
Create your own voice skill and writing rules. Review the draft for clichés, repeated phrases and wording that doesn’t fit.
You’ll follow a sample series through the lessons so you can see the choices in context. Its sleuth, Del Corliss, is a retired music teacher who inherits a piano-tuning business in the lake town of Pell Harbor. Her perfect pitch makes her notice things other people miss.
Your sleuth and your town will be your own. The example shows you what to look for, so you have something better than a blank page to start from.
COZY MYSTERY WRITER IS INCLUDED
Paste the complete prompts, read what your AI produces, ask for fixes and save the version you approve.
The included course plugin asks questions, runs the step and saves files, while you steer the story and review the result.
Start with Manual Mode when you first meet a step, then use Shortcut Mode when you’re ready. You can mix both throughout the course.
Cozy Mystery Writer comes in versions for Claude and ChatGPT, with installation guidance. Its workflow reads the cozy promise, so genre rules travel with the writing process. It also includes a voice interview and a clue checker.
The plugin keeps your project files together and gives you a way to see where you are and what comes next. You stay in charge of the ideas, the choices and the finished book.

MORE THAN A FOLDER OF PROMPTS
YOUR COZY TOOLKIT
Use the course resources to organize your series and judge the work your AI produces.
You get worksheets for choosing your cozy lane, building the recipe and comparing story concepts. Then there are cast cards, a series-plan variety sheet, a murder-plan template and a clue map to help the story fit together.
When you’re drafting, use the chapter review checklist and quick fixes. When you’re editing, use the story and fair-play audit, then the phrase-cleanup sheet.
And when the book is ready for its next step, the blurb, book matter, keywords and cover-brief resources help you prepare what readers see.
You’ll find PDF versions and editable Google Doc copies in the course resources. You’re adapting useful starting points to your own book instead of trying to remember every detail.
FEEDBACK ON KATE’S AI FICTION TEACHING
“I’m 67 and not tech savvy at all.”

“This course is amazing. Kate covers everything and I really love her teaching style. It’s like having a friend sit next to you, showing you the ropes.”
These students shared feedback about Secret Authors, Kate’s separate AI fiction course. Their experiences are not Cozy Mystery Fiction Stack results or a promise of sales.
MEET AUNTIE ALIBI
Auntie Alibi is your guide inside the course. If a prompt doesn’t make sense or you aren’t sure what the lesson is asking for, open her question panel right there on the page.
You can ask up to 10 questions a day. After that, your questions go to the support team. She also checks in at the end of the lessons.
You have somewhere to turn while you’re working. You don’t have to leave the course and start searching for a completely different way to do it.
YOUR ROADMAP THROUGH THE COURSE
Meet Auntie Alibi, choose your AI and set up the writing studio you’ll use for your whole series.

Explore reader expectations, research real book pages and choose the setting, themes and tropes that make your series yours.
MODULE 02
Create a sleuth worth following, a cast worth revisiting and a town with enough stories to carry a whole series.
MODULE 03
Build your author voice and cozy writing rules so your AI knows how the book should sound and what to avoid.
MODULE 04
Work out the murder, motives and evidence before drafting. Give readers fair clues and convincing reasons to suspect the wrong person.
MODULE 05
Set the voice in Chapter 1, draft the story in manageable pieces and fix problems while they’re still easy to find.
MODULE 06
Check the story and fair-play mystery, then clean up the prose. Give your draft a clear route through revision.
MODULE 07
Prepare the title, blurb, book matter, keywords, categories and series cover look that introduce your book to its readers.

MODULE 08
Update your series bible and carry the cast forward, with a fresh mystery and new reasons for readers to return.
BOOK 1 OPENS THE DOOR
The course takes you through Book 1 and helps you plan your series. You’ll create the sleuth, recurring cast, town and longer story threads before writing, so the first book gives the rest somewhere to grow.
After Book 1, you update the series bible and plan the next mystery. The people and places stay recognizable while the murder, suspects and town event change.
Your voice rules and review process come with you, too. You’re building a way to work that you can return to for the next book and the one after that.
You still read, choose and approve the work. Having the foundation in place makes the next set of decisions easier to approach.
THE COURSE. THE PLUGIN. YOUR COZY WRITING SYSTEM.

A FEW THINGS YOU MAY BE WONDERING
No. The research and concept lessons help you choose your cozy lane, build a recipe and compare ideas before you commit.
We begin with the cozy reader promise, then build the sleuth, series and murder plan before drafting. You’ll use prompts and checks rather than trying to invent the whole process yourself.
Both. Choose one to start. The course includes the Cozy Mystery Writer versions and setup guidance for each.
Yes. Cozy Mystery Writer is the course plugin, with a guided workflow, voice interview and clue checker. You can also use the manual prompts.
The plotting lessons build a murder plan, clue map and chapter outline. The story edit includes a fair-play audit, so you have a way to check what readers can actually solve.
You choose your target length. The setup and market research help you decide what fits your project. The process supports short reads and longer books.
Yes. The course plans a recurring sleuth, cast and town, with a series bible and guidance for the books that follow.
The focus is creating your cozy fiction: research, planning, writing, editing and book packaging. Dedicated launch and marketing training is a separate offer.
Ask Auntie Alibi inside the lesson. You can ask up to 10 questions a day, with a route to the support team after that.
That depends on the decisions, review and time you put into the work, and on how you publish and promote. The course provides guidance and tools; it doesn’t promise a completion date or income.
YOU DON’T HAVE TO START WITH A PERFECT IDEA
Maybe you’ve pictured a little bookshop, a lakeside town or a sleuth who knows far too much about everyone’s business. Maybe you haven’t chosen any of it yet.
You can begin either way. We’ll research the readers, find your concept and build the pieces in an order that helps the story come together.
One book to start. A town to return to. A clear way to keep writing.
